The History of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin
Welcome to Lake Nebagamon. Lake Nebagamon is as beautiful lake as anyone could imagine in the northern reaches of Wisconsin with Norway and white pine towering over oaks, maples, poplars, and hundreds of lesser hardwoods and conifers. It is difficult for the observer looking out across the lake as the twentieth century draws to a close to imagine the moonscape that the environs had become as the century was born. In the late eighteenth century, lumber baron, Fredrick Weyerhauser brought his family to Lake Nebagamon, a move that was to ravage the landscape, but build a flourishing town with vital businesses and a thriving tourist industry. You are invited to travel through the village as it was late in the nineteenth and early in the twentieth century.
